Let’s explain why we chose this location. The team have spent many months going over location and initially close to the bars would have been a great idea but this poses a lot more expense and planning for such a small team of volunteers hosting their first ever pride event. We wanted to make sure the event is manageable, accessible and held in a safe and family friendly part of town, whilst still keeping it as central as possible. Obviously if the event is a success we will aim higher for future years to come, with bigger areas in mind to fit the growth of the event.

Church Square was recently upgraded and will be a perfect fit for our first event. We won’t be leaving out the bars that have shown us support and those that want to get onboard, we will be helping them to provide after parties when the main event has finished, giving you options for a night out. Also on a Bank Holiday Sunday in Scunthorpe, many of the bars would not be open during the day.

Church Square has good access to transport with it being close to the bus station and not too far from the train station, disabled bays and lots of car parks surrounding. We hope you will get behind us, see the positives and come together to celebrate this day of diversity and pride in Scunthorpe.

We also understand, it is on the same weekend as much larger scale events further afield and we know we cannot compete but we want to provide a free event locally that everyone can attend. Some people may not be able to get to the larger events due to money, travel or other reasons. So we are here to give you an alternative.

We are still looking for Stall holders, food vendors and sponsors so get in touch.

We know this falls on the same weekend as Manchester Pride but for those who want to attend a free, fun and friendly event and support Scunthorpe’s first ever pride, we hope you will join us to celebrate diversity, inclusion and togetherness.
