All you need to know about Scunthorpe Pride 2023

All you need to know about Scunthorpe Pride 2023

Let’s start with one of the most important aspects of this event, it’s FREE! That’s right, our volunteers have been working hard to make this event accessible to all. No need for a ticket, just turn up.

Please bring some cash on the day as some vendors may be unable to take card payments. Any change you can contribute as donations to the event is much appreciated and don’t forget to visit our stall.

What time is Scunthorpe Pride? We open the main gates around 12pm, we will have brilliant local entertainment company, A Sprinkle Of Magic on the main stage for the kids. There will be plenty of characters, fun and games. The 20:21 Visual Arts Centre will also be opening for us to join in on the fun.

Around 2pm there will something happening in the square. After that we hand over to our host Ida and start the full day of entertainment. You can view the full line up here. The event will end for around 9pm and we have 3 official after parties for you to enjoy in town and 1 V.I.P party.

How do I know what time things are on? Our PR has been busy creating a day programme, this will contain a map of the site and times for the entertainment. These will be 50p each on the day and we only have a limited amount available.

Disabled Access Information The site is flat hard ground and easily accessible. There will be a disabled portaloo and also the 20:21 Visual Arts Centre have disabled toilet facilities.

Is the bar cash or card?
Good news, it’s both!

Lion Outside Bars will be providing alcohol in the licensed bar area. Please do not take alcohol out of this area. You will also have STEEL FM up there providing tunes!

Can I bring drinks?
You can but NOT alcohol, you must bring a sealed bottle (no glass) You could also choose to bring a refillable bottle or cup as we will be providing water on site.

Can I bring a chair? You can indeed, please feel free to bring a folding chair to sit on as we understand it’s a long day and hard ground. There are grassy areas around site but the biggest grass area is the bar. You can also pack some blankets if you feel you might get a bit chilly as the day goes on or to sit on. If it’s raining feel free to bring an umbrella. Read items not permitted here.

How do I get to Scunthorpe Pride and is there parking?
There is plenty of parking and it’s close to public transport link, please visit the “Getting to Pride Page” for more info.

Will there be food?
Yes of course, we have some different types of food vendors coming. From hog roast to Latin Fusion.

Will there be stalls?
Yep, so we will have a variety of different stalls, we even have a little makeover zone down in the square so if you want to jazz yourself up or your outfit you can head over to the back of the square. We have lots of great charities, good cause stalls and selling stalls. Pride Market Page coming soon. Pride Market page to see what stalls there are.

What rules are there?
Well, obviously the generic safety rules apply and we have to keep everyone safe. We can’t allow alcohol outside of the licensed bar area, we can’t allow pets for their own safety. Please visit the “Site Rules Page” for further info.

What area is Scunthorpe Pride taking over? The pride site starts from past Specsavers on the High Street down the library square and also covers the area down the side of UTC engineering, these will be the main entrances to the pride arena.

Will there be an after party? We have 4 after parties, 3 are free and open to the general public and 1 is V.I.P and ticket only. The V.I.P party will be more of a chilled lounge feel, Retro Bar is 80’s & 90’S, Lord Roberts has Ida Slapter show and Penny Bank’s theme is in the works.

I’m worried about safety? We have taken security and your safety very seriously. The Entrance will not be far from the bus station if you are travelling via bus. And Taxi’s can drop off nearby to the entrance. Bag checks will be carried out by the security team. Any abusive behaviour must be reported immediately to a team member or security. No glass is to be brought on site. Site rule here.

Who has organised Scunthorpe Pride? A small team of volunteers have worked very hard week on week since August 2022 to bring Pride to the town, you can see the team members via the “The Pride Team” Page.

Where’s the cash machine? The closest cash machine can be found near the Foundry Shopping centre either side. One near to Costa (charges apply) and a free withdrawals machine past Specsavers and near to Greggs & Subway.

Can I bring a picnic? We ask that you please don’t bring your own food onsite as we have some fantastic food vendors for the day with reasonable street food prices. Exceptions may be made for small children and people with very specific dietary requirements.

Where can I stay over? If you’re looking for somewhere not to far from town and safe for the LGBTQ+ community then The Wortley House Hotel is our top recommendation, especially if you are anxious about staying somewhere, they will look after you. There are more options here on the Getting to Pride page.

Is there a V.I.P area? No, there isn’t not this year, it’s our first year and we don’t want to run before we can walk. We hope to provide this another year if this year is a success. There is a V.I.P after party and info on that will be released nearer the time. It will be a more chilled, less clubbing and more social. But the other after parties will have plenty of loud music and dancing if you prefer that.
