Now this year, we’ve had to save where we can. Paying a videography company usually costs us around £1,000. So this year board member Leanne and volunteers, Matt and James will be out and about around the event filming. But we want to get you involved!
We didn’t get the funding for fancy video equipment but we will make do with what we have, which is mostly some camcorders, our phones and a whole lot of enthusiasm.
So, the project! What is it…there’s 2 parts to it really.
Firstly, we will be asking some people to answer a question on camera, whether this be, “What do you love about Scunthorpe Pride?” or “Does Scunthorpe Need A Pride and Why?” something along those lines. Or you can choose to talk about a personal experience at Scunthorpe Pride.
Please note, you will be asked beforehand, you do not have to take part and can kindly decline.
The Main Project
The second part of the project is where we need you and it is the main part of it, we will have a spare camera. This camera will be passed around for 5-15 minute slots to different people, that includes members of the public, performers, stall holders, pride team and volunteers.
We expect shaky footage and a DIY feel, so don’t worry if your not used to filming. It’s all part of it.
What do we want you to do with your time and the camera?
It’s simple really, just film from your point of view (POV) for the timeslot. This can be hanging out with friends, meeting people, dancing, walking around, watching the stage, just give us a first person experience of what you see and how you experience pride. You can ask your friends questions or just generally carry on about your day at the event and document it.
How to get involved
If you want to join the Pride POV Project, find (me) Leanne, I will be the one in Hi Viz with MEDIA MANAGER printed on my back.
It’s a chance to capture the event from the eyes of those who matter most and see what everyone gets up to. The project may be on going and archived for years to come. Creating a record of Scunthorpe Pride now and into the future.
If this sounds like something you want to get involved in, just to judge interest please submit below. You don’t need to do anything else except seek Leanne at the event and say you’d like to do the POV.
At the start of your POV timeslot, please film yourself and state your first name, just so we know who the footage was recorded by.
You can do it in short clips or film continuously for 5-10 minutes.
Feel free to be silly if you like, just be yourself and enjoy taking part.

Scunthorpe Pride Event

1. Purpose
This policy outlines how photography, filming, and other media recording will be managed during the Scunthorpe Pride Event. Our aim is to celebrate Pride while creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all attendees.
We recognise that some individuals may not be “out” regarding their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We therefore take privacy, consent, and personal safety seriously.
2. Event Photography and Filming
Official event photographers, videographers and event staff may take photographs and video recordings during the event for:
- Event promotion and marketing
- Internal communications
- Social media channels
- Company website and publications
- Future event promotion
- Media coverage and reporting
By entering the event, attendees acknowledge that photography and filming may take place in public event areas.
3. Respect for Privacy and Consent
We are committed to respecting attendees wishes regarding photography and filming.
Official photographers and videographers will:
- Act respectfully and professionally at all times.
- Seek verbal consent before taking close-up or individual photographs where practical.
- Avoid photographing anyone who has indicated they do not wish to be photographed.
- Respect requests to stop filming or photographing.
4. Opt-Out Process
If you see one of our professional photographers or videos being taken and do not wish to be filmed, photographed please approach the person to let them know.
Attendees who do not wish to appear in photographs or videos should:
- Inform event staff upon arrival.
- Wear a “No Photography” identifier (such as a wristband, badge, or sticker) provided by themselves.
- Notify a member of the event team if they believe they have been photographed contrary to their wishes and make note of which photographer holds the image.
Event staff will make reasonable efforts to ensure opt-out requests are respected.
5. Photography by Attendees
Attendees are welcome to take personal photographs and videos during the event. However, all attendees must:
- Respect the privacy and wishes of others.
- Obtain consent before taking identifiable close-up photographs of individuals.
- Not pressure anyone into being photographed or recorded.
- Not publish images or videos that could put another person at risk or reveal their identity without permission.
- Comply with any requests from event staff regarding photography restrictions.
6. Children and Young People
Where children or young people are present:
- Photography should only take place with appropriate parent, guardian, or organisational consent.
- Close-up images of children should be avoided unless explicit permission has been obtained.
7. Sensitive Content
Given the nature of Pride events:
- Extra care should be taken when photographing individuals, groups, performers, or speakers.
- Images that could reveal information about a person’s sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or participation in Pride activities should not be published without appropriate consideration and consent.
- Event organisers reserve the right not to publish any image considered inappropriate, unsafe or inconsistent with the values of the event.
8. Media and Press
Accredited media representatives must:
- Identify themselves when requested.
- Follow this policy and any instructions from event organisers.
- Respect opt-out requests and designated no-photography areas.
9. Data Protection
Photographs and video recordings will be processed and stored in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Where individuals are clearly identifiable in published content, organisers will take reasonable steps to ensure the use of images is lawful, fair, and proportionate.

Anyone who believes an image or video featuring them has been used inappropriately may contact:

11. Event Organiser Rights
The event organisers reserve the right to:
- Restrict photography or filming in certain areas.
- Remove anyone who fails to comply with this policy.
- Refuse publication of any content that conflicts with event values, safety requirements, or legal obligations.
